From what I can see for 2020 entry the last place offered for OOC was between 114-115 but I may have misunderstood that....

Hello, my dd got 110.65 in CCHS. We have put it as 1st preference. She has also scored 339.57 in CSSE. Should we stay in waiting list for CCHS or put Colchester County High School as 1st preference from 2nd? Also what was the last score offered last year for entry of 2020? We are hopeful for CCHS and dd really wants to go there. We are OOC for Chelmsford County High School for Girls.

From CCHS (Chelmsford) website:

The Freedom of Information Act ( FOIA ) gives you the right to access recorded information held by public sector organisations. Anyone can request information – there are no restrictions on your age, nationality or where you live. Please note for schools, the standard time limit for responding is 20 school days, or 60 working days if this is shorter. Working day means any day other than a Saturday, Sunday, or public holidays and bank holidays; this may or may not be the same as the days you are open for business or staff are in work.

The Freedom of Information Act covers any recorded information that is held by a public authority; this includes printed documents, computer files, letters, emails, photographs, and sound or video recordings. There is no requirement to create new information to satisfy a request.

Below is information relating to admissions that has been requested and released and is therefore available in the public domain.

For September 2019 intake

The last student offered a place on the National Offer Day scored in the range of 105-106 for the 12.5 mile priority area and in the range of 119-120 for outside the 12.5 mile priority area.

For September 2020 intake

The last student offered a place on the National Offer Day scored in the range of 105-106 for the 12.5 mile priority area and in the range of 114-115 for outside the 12.5 mile priority area.

If, on mature reflection, you actually think that CCHSG would be a better fit for your DD than CCHS, is your LA one which is allowing changes to be made without rendering your application late? If it isn't, then making changes now may well mean that you get none of your preferences.

If you put a school you really want most (albeit with only an outside chance of success) below any other school which you can get, then you won't automatically be on the waiting list for that school that you really want, because your LA will have given you what you said you wanted.

With that score, unfortunately, it is very unlikely that your DD will get CCHS, at least on March 1st. But 339.*** would almost certainly be ranked high enough to make her eligible to be offered a place at CCHSG - that is completely independent of whether or not she would be ranked high enough by CCHS. Schools rank your application against their own admissions criteria only - the 'First preference First' system has been illegal for many years now.

If you make changes to preferences now, your application will be considered as being Late (the deadline was 27th Nov). All late applications will be considered after all in-time applications have been considered. And you may miss out on all of the choices you have put on CAF. On the other hand, if you don’t make any changes and if CCHS cut off is high, you will automatically be placed on their waiting list and offered a place at CCHSG.
