Tiffin girls or Nonsuch

Post by confusedsw »

Hello there, hope someone can help me.We are living close to both tiffins and nonsuch , nonsuch journey slighly better than tiffins. We have given our first option as tiffins , thinking tiffins slightly better than nonsuch.I have just came across league table 2020 now based on progress 8 score nonsuch is 3rd and tiffin girls is 48th. I am confused now,our council allows upto 10th to change the list, please pour in your suggestions, thanks.

What did you prefer about Tiffin when you were making your decision? I assume it wasn't just that you thought it was higher in the league table and that you have positive reasons for preferring it for your daughter. These reasons still apply. The league tables can change every year, and over the course of 5 years can change a great deal, so best not to base your decision on them alone.

I would go with whichever school you think would suit your child best. Minor differences in league tables are irrelevant, and will be particularly irrelevant in 5 years time when your child takes GCSEs or 7 years time when they take A levels. Both schools are excelent and I'm sure the league tables will make no difference to an individual child's progress.

I know it's really tricky at the moment, but were you able to visit, or do on line open events? Does one of the schools suit your child's interests better? How about transport, can they travel independently to one more easily than the other so that they can attend after school activities?

I'm not from the area & local members may be able to help you more, but what I said above holds for any of the grammar schools, the differences in outcome for an individual child will be marginal, if there is any difference at all.

I agree with all the previous posts. Particularly about ease of getting to school. However if you sort the link you sent by Progress 8 scores I think Nonsuch is 3rd and Tiffin Girls is 5th so I really think there is nothing between them academically.

As others have said, the difference in an individual’s academic outcomes attending either of those schools would be negligible, if any.
That’s a particularly superficial and lazy league table to be honest.
