Is potential error by admissions team also an appeal? Bucks

Post by tgettingit »

Hi members,
We believe our offer is not our first preference due to admin error by the admissions team. Not sure if we keep chasing on an email or will this definitely end up as an appeal fight. Anyone has any advice please?
We have submitted appeal anyways but wish that we won't have to wait that long if they are able to fix it.

Chain of events:
1. We moved to catchment in October before caf submission
2. There were email comms in Nov and Dec for collecting adress proof. All of a sudden in mid Feb we received an email saying we haven't provided all adress proofs. When we provided screenshot of previous email comms, we got confirmation that all documents are accepted.
3.when we got offer, we got a school nearer our old address counting us in that adress.
4. We have been reaching out to them with these questions, no response from them.
4. Even 2nd round allocation shows us on waiting list in 15th position.

I presume this wasn't a school with a deadline earlier than 31st October? Are you happy to say which school?

You're right moving to catchment area deadline wasn't earlier than Oct 31, but was Oct 31st itself

Did you provide change of address evidence at the time of moving, or only once evidence was asked for (of everybody?) some time later?

Looking at the allocation information on the Bucks CC website, would your DC definitely have got a place at the school in the 1st March allocation, assuming that everything was in order with regard to your application and that it had been handled correctly?

The uncovering of an error on the admissions authority's part wouldn't guarantee success at appeal, if your DC would not have got a place, even had the error not been made.

Would you be willing to send the email correspondence to the Appeals Box, so that we can give the best advice in the circumstances?
We don't need the attached documents, just the unedited emails.

@toadmum, we provided the adress information at the time of caf submission as well as when asked for in an email. Our DC should have definitely got the place in March 1st allocation as we're qualified, living in catchment and provided all proofs that were asked for as we had moved in only October. Infact, we have an email confirmation on the Feb 17th that all our documents have been accepted. With that given, will uncovering admin error at appeal change any chances?

As well as being in catchment, were you within the distance on the Bucks website on March 1st?

Yes, we are way within the distance. We're really very close to the school
