Young Gifted & Talented Programme

My Y7 DS has come home today with a letter from the School saying that he has been identified as "gifted and talented" and recommending that he join the Youth Gifted and Talented Learner Academy. Does anyone know anything about this as it's all new (and news!) to me?

Apparently he was identified through the CAT test he took recently (also news to me!).
