Intermediate Math Challenge 2024
Hi
My daughter (right now in year - 6) want to register for Intermediate Math Challenge 2024.My daughter's school don't have any affiliation with UKMT and her teacher seems don't have any interest. I reached out to UKMT but they refused to divulge local school via whom I can register my daughter. Does any one has any other idea about registration? We are in South West.
following is the UKMT response

Many thanks for your enquiry.
If your child's school is not registered with us you can approach any of your local schools to ask if they are registered. If they are, you can ask them to host your child for the Challenges, however they are not obliged to do so and this is solely at the school's discretion. Unfortunately, we cannot release the information on which local schools are/aren't registered with us.
I hope that helps.
Best wishes

Re: Intermediate Math Challenge 2024
How many local secondary schools could you reasonably get your DD to to take the test? Try emailing the Head of Maths at each and ask whether they would be willing to register your DD along with their school's entrants? You would probably have to pay the fee (negligible) for the extra entry (DS2 sat the Junior Mathematical Challenge at a local grammar school in year 6), plus I suspect that even if the school was willing in principle, given the usual age range for entry to the IMC, they might want to see evidence of your DD's suitability for that level.
Where did she sit the JMC (if she did)?

No she didn't sat any of the exam so I am not sure there will be anything to prove her ability. So looks of it she need to go for JMC before intermediate! but registration challenge remains so as you suggested I will reach out to Head of Maths of various school.
Thanks again
Re: Intermediate Math Challenge 2024
Sorry I am bit confused.
JMC mention Age Group - England, Wales and Overseas: Year 8 and below
https://ukmt.org.uk/junior-challenges/j ... -challenge
is that age of child or year of study?
@ToadMom - as your child already sat so you may know?
PS : UKMT has got new website, quite good

Re: Intermediate Math Challenge 2024
Age group
England, Wales and Overseas: Year 8 and below
Scotland: S2 or below
Northern Ireland: Year 9 or below
Registered in year 8 and below, but normally therefore, age up to and including 13.
So Year 6 okay - also okay for the IMC as that's also '...and below', but yr11 iirc.
But has to be able to answer the questions, of course, otherwise it really is no fun?
