BRGS reslults

Post by GiddyKipper3 »

Hi everyone! I’ve been searching the internet for answers to a couple of questions regarding my daughter’s BRGS 11+ results.

I’m very happy she passed and had gained herself a place but I don’t understand the score, I’m hoping someone on here knows.

She scored 318 but I was expecting a score around of 120 from looking at past score, so I’m a little confused?! What was the score out of? Or what % did she get? Also can she use her BRGS score to apply for CRGS?

Thanks :)

Exam format changed to GL from CEM this time, so the scoring system will not doubt have changed.

I dont believe that BRGS and CRGS are in a joint application system, previously it was Heckmonwike and another in Cumbria.

I agree - I don't think BRGS and CRGS are in a joint scheme

I understand that BRGS tell people if they are in the top X places and are more or less guaranteed a place if they apply and also if they are on the reserve list

Yes scores all different this year, presumably due to new GL exam format so hard to benchmark! My understanding is that it's all standardised and so you can't translate it into a %.
I don't think you could use it for CRGS either - my understanding is you have to sit the specific exam for that school - worth double checking the CRGS admissions policy but think that's the case.

Thank you all for your replies, you’ve been really helpful!
I’ll call CRGS the on Monday to double check as I couldn’t see anything on their website. It’s unfortunate the exams were on the same day :/
Do you know if there’s a way to find out her individual test scores?

Thanks again guys!

I assume you'd need to ask the school if you were wanting to try and find out raw scores - I have no idea if they would share them but I have read elsewhere that schools don't do that usually?? Is there a particular reason you were wanting to know?

I read somewhere all the Lancs grammars had their test on the same date this year so I took it that you just have to pick the one you want to go for at the point you register for the test. Worth checking if you're now preferring CRGS but that's how I interpreted it.
