Thank You
I apologize for creating a separate post, as it appears that private messages are not enabled on my account.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the contributors in the Berkshire section of this forum.
In particular, I want to extend a special thank you to Aethel for her exceptional patience in responding to parents' queries. As parents of students preparing for highly competitive exams for Grammar Schools, we often find ourselves anxious, nervous, and impatient. Aethel's insightful responses have been invaluable, especially for those of us who are new to the UK's secondary grammar school system.
My gratitude extends to a broader circle of moderators and active members on this forum. Just to mention a few, I'd like to acknowledge Tinkers, Scary Mum, HermanMunster, Mad?, 2020D2022S, and ToadMum. Thank you for being a source of support and knowledge for us.
As my child's 11+ journey this year has come to a close with his acceptance into his first-choice Grammar School, I would like to extend my best wishes to all the other parents who are still waiting until March 2024 to find out. Best of luck to you all!

Thank you for your kind words. Now that your first post has been approved you will be able to send private messages.
All the people you mention stumbled upon this website when involved in the 11 plus with their own children. We always love it when people stay around to help out future posters with their own experiences.
Somewhere there is an old thread called Hotel California "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave".

Re: Thank You
Thank you uped, it’s good to know you find the forum helpful.
As Scarymum says, it’s having been through the system ourselves with our DC (and having support on here) that makes us keen to help other parents. Grammar selection systems certainly are not perfect/fair, but they are what is there to contain access to very good schools that can benefit children enormously, so we work with what we have to get the best fit we can for our DC.
Do make other parents aware of the forums’ existance if you think it can help them too. Especially if they don’t know other parents or are DIYing, have an SEN child, or are a “near miss” on the test itself.
Hope your DC loves their GS next year.

Re: Thank You
My first post here was about CAF ranking and waiting lists. And I have benefited from the knowledge shared by the same parents you have mentioned. I was in the same boat as you were just a few weeks ago. My two are already midway through their secondary school journey.
I am humbled that you include me alongside the many knowledgehands who make this forum relevant. I could not have done it without this forum.
And like a bad flu, I keep getting this 11+ bug every year for the last few years.
Good luck.
