Colyton Grammar School's raw score to secure an 'A'
Could someone please point me to a resource or confirm what should be the expected raw score (or in percentage terms) to secure a comfortable 'A' offer? Anything additional to aid our preparation is welcome too! Thanks in advance.
Re: Colyton Grammar School's raw score to secure an 'A'
Unfortunately, no one replied to my question. I know it is difficult to say things in percentage terms when the decisions are rather based on standardized scores.
If your DC or someone you know has got a place in CGS comfortably, it will help to know how they were doing percentage-wise in their practice papers (e.g. CGP, Bond, FPTP, etc.). Just another attempt, to get some advice and put my worries to rest maybe. Many thanks in anticipation.
Also, where can I find past year's cut-off scores for CGS?

Don't have any raw scores, but my dc has just got into Colyton this year. On her mocks it was suggested that minimum 55% should be enough but 60% usually got A offers. Daughter only did 2 mocks first she got a 45% but increased to 56% for second mock.

Just to add she was offer an A place not B place

Have you asked on the Mumsnet forums, they seem to be bit more active and knowledgeable than here?

Looking at the last 4 years, 20,21,22&23, it sounds like eligable scores were 104,102,102&104. I'm not sure if these were raw scores.

Fascinating...
2) How many got eligible scores for each of the above years?
Q2 201 206 199 195
4) How many applied for a place in year 7 for each of the above years?
Q4 346 236 236 232
I wonder how many appeals the school usually gets, given that over the past 5 years of entry, there were apparently between 30 and 145
more applicants for a place at the school than there were qualified exam candidates?*
CGS used CEM over this time period, looking at their 'FAQs' found on searching for 'Colyton Grammar School age standardised', so the qualifying score quoted is a standardised score, not raw score.
*None at all for entry in 2022, it seems

Although I'm not sure whether that is 'no appeals' or 'no successful appeals', as all the other schools I clicked on at random say '0' as well (admittedly in the case of the primary schools, because they offered nowhere near their PAN, so no appeals would be needed).

that in interesting - appreciate we say to people "put the school down if you are planning to appeal" but those are huge numbers. Just wonder if one of the years was 2020 when the CAF went in before the exams results were out and people genuinely didn't know the result
ETA yes the year with +++ applications was 2020

But it's the application for 2020 entry, not the applications in 2020?hermanmunster wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 11:36 am that in interesting - appreciate we say to people "put the school down if you are planning to appeal" but those are huge numbers. Otherwise, there couldn't be figures for 2023 re the number of places declined.
5) How many did not take up a place for each of the above years?

ah that is interesting - half suspect that they were being literal and it was the year for those taking the exam and applying and also how many declined in the same calendar year - who knows - not sure how you explain the wacky 2020 otherwise
