Question on Catchment

Post by Newforum1 »

DD scored 237, we live in the Eastern catchment in Coventry but have selected Stratford Girls as our 1st choice. Do we stand any chance to get a place at Stratford girls? Appreciate any advice or keen to hear any past experience. Thanks

So do you live within this priority area?

2.2.2. Priority Circle: the priority circle for Stratford Girls’ Grammar School (referred to as the
School in this policy) is based on a circle with a radius of 16.885 miles drawn from the
Fountain in Rother Street, Stratford-upon-Avon to the County boundary south of Long
Compton. Evidence will be required to prove that the child is resident within the priority
circle by the deadline of 11.59pm on 31st December 2023.
If so then the places are allocated by score and 237 is a very good score and should get a place, but if you are outside the circle then there is probably not much chance - have you seen this ? https://api.warwickshire.gov.uk/documen ... 03847-3524

If you have also named the school(s) for which you are in catchment (if you're not for Stratford), and your DD has met / exceeded the AQS, then having named Stratford first and not getting it will not affect her chance of getting an offer for that one / one of those.

Basically, if you qualify for any of your preferences at all, you will be allocated a place at the one of those which you ranked highest.

If you only named schools which cannot offer a place, because your DD isn't ranked high enough against their oversubscription criteria, then you will be allocated a place at the nearest school in your LA which still has places available when everyone who expressed a preference for each school has been offered.
