Are nets and hole punching still in the GL NV reasoning paper?

Post by Caroline_Perkins »

Please help! I have accessed GL familiarisation and practice papers, but there are NO nets and cubes, hole punching or building blocks. Have these been taken out of the exam? Is there anywhere I can access a syllabus for the 2024 test? Many thanks in advance

There is no syllabus & the test will depend on the area you are in, so it might be helpful to say.
A general comment would be that the test can change each year to keep everyone on their toes. Expect the unexpected.

Nets and Cubes used to be in CEM every year, so prscticing them seemed sensible for those in CEM areas.

However GL is perfectly allowed to insert them and they have been mentioned on the forum before as being present in some GL exams (Inforget which area). So myadvoce would ne to spend £6 on a CGP ten-minute-test book covering CEM Nets and Cubes (they’ll be cheap now CEM discontinued!) and spend an hour or so seeing if your DC “gets” them.

If they do, great. If they find them harder, spend a little longer going through how to approach them… and a little more practice… and then leave it, because they might well not come up, but if they do, child is prepped and won’t panic.
