However, last year they didn't have as many vacancies as "No students deemed selective in the Kent 11+ test were offered a place at Beths for September 2023", which may point to the fact that Criteria 8 was never used (using distance or otherwise) as all places were filled before it was necessary.

Hopefully, this year will be different! The new GL prepared exam and other factors may affect things this year. We have a friend who missed Bexley by a single point but scored in the 380's in Kent and they are looking at Beths (Wilmington Grammar is too far as they live in Bexleyheath). Once you have submitted the supplementary form with your CAF all you can do really, is wait.

Wish you the best and hopefully some Criteria 8 boys will be offered a place before September!👍
Thank you so much for your reply, we are hoping for the best 🤞🏻

Has anyone got confirmation where they are on the waiting list? Especially if their child failed Bexley but passed Kent? When can you find out where you are on the waiting list?

Or is the case that Beths Grammar will not ever get down to the criteria 8? It is very confusing. I have a friend who lives close to school but as they come after siblings in the same position she does not think her child will ever get in now?

The waiting lists are active and held by the school - this is from Beths website
What happens with the Waiting List?

Those who are deemed selective and applied to Beths Grammar school but were not offered a place in March 2024, can apply to go on the waiting list between 1st - 15th March 2024. Parents should apply to go on the Waiting List via their Local Authority.

If your son was deemed selective in the Kent 11+ test but not the Bexley 11+ test, please add a note on your waiting list application stating Criteria 8 (if you submitted a Supplementary form in October 2023 to the school, we will have a list ready to add to the waiting list when it is returned to the school.

Bexley LA then create and hold the waiting list. Should any places be available after the National Offers Day, they will be made via the waiting list towards the end of April 2024 (what is known as Reallocation day). The waiting list will then be handed back to the school to maintain.

The school will not know where your son is on the waiting list until the waiting list is handed to the school at the end of April.

We keep our waiting lists until the end of Year 9.

My friend says she has not been told where she is on the waiting list despite asking? I thought it sounded odd. Have others been told where they are? Maybe it is best she is trying to get her son in on the Kent test route? And no one ever seems to get in on that? Does anyone know what the distance is for the last place currently?

I think I may have worked it out. Because the child failed Bexley it means they can not go on the waiting list. Therefore they would only be considered if all the other options are exhausted which is never going to happen because so many people sit the exam who will qualify over her child. So in reality it would be a very rare case that will get through to Beths Grammar even if they live close to the school.

Therefore that might be why the family do not know where they are on the waiting list? As they are not able to qualify for a wait list place?

If the DS is in Criteria 8 then he should be on the waiting list, providing an application to be on the waiting list was made on time etc.

Suspect unlikely to be able get a place from C8 but they should the school should be able to give some info on the list position
