It seems like AGS waitlist is a bit sluggish this year. The only comparison I have is from the 2022 thread where 15 reoffers had been made by mid April. This compares to this year where only 16 reoffers have been made up until now which is 6 weeks later. Maybe less people taking up private school places this year so less places becoming free? Who knows?

That is great news IMA_UNI !

Congratulations!!!

I think a lot of people are hanging fire on independent schools with the prospect of VAT going on fees if Labour in the GE.

It feels like 2020 when COVID and furlough did the same thing. My oldest missed out as the wait list didn't move for him, although he was below AQS for that year.

How long are parents given to accept or decline their re-offer? Is it possible for them to wait until the GE result before deciding?

We were basically given a weekend to think about it last year but it doesn’t mean you can’t give the place up at any point, as could anybody who already has a place.

We got the offer on the Tuesday and had to reply by Thursday to accept the place.

If we hadn't I assume it would have been reallocated again.

Ah okay. Thanks both. So anyone unsure could just accept, then give up the place later on.

Do people think the wait lists should start moving again if labour don’t get in on July 4th?

Hard to say. I suppose you need to estimate what percentage of those on the waitlist are considering a private school option, then of those what percentage will be swayed by the possible VAT implications.

On another note, I was told by someone who has just appealed for AGS that offers have now been made up to 151 (1 over PAN) due to a child being admitted with AGS specified on EHCP. This means that 2 people need to give up their place for wait-list to start moving again. This is separate to the appeals process which I understand is going on at the moment.
