When to start the NFER Papers
Our School's (Bolton School) exam is in January.
The exams are based on Nfer VR, NVR and Maths. And the schools own Creative Writing Exam.
We have been going through the AE books, the Bond books and loads of stuff from this other 11+ website.
I think my lads doing really well - so when should i show him the actual Nfer papers?

Try a couple of the NFER papers - especially the maths ones and see if there are any weaker areas you need to concentrate on. There is so much available it's easy to get carried away repeating things he is confident on!
DS took his in September (passed easily ) and during summer holidays we concentrated on maths not covered in school such as: areas of triangles and odd shapes, squared and cubed numbers and corresponding roots plus increasing speed on addition and multiplication while keeping the other subjects ticking over.
good luck
