Post by Stig »

Does anyone know if the letters inviting kids to the consortium test have been sent out yet?

We haven't received our letters either. Do they normally come direct from the schools or from the council?

I'm sure someone on the forum said they received their letter last week...

Last year the letter came from the consortium - all the school logos were printed down the side. IIRC they also came very late, perhaps only a week or so beforehand.

Apparently they were sent out yesterday afternoon (Weds 12th) So depending on the post, they should be dropping through your letterboxes soon.

just got our letter through the post. it states that the kids will have maths lasting 50 mins and VB lasting 1hr 15min ( including 30mins familiarisation test)

anyone have any idea what this is? is it a test of similar layout to real thing to warm up their brain and will it be included in final marking?

feel i'm ageing just thinking about it all..

The actual VR test is 45 minutes (100 questions if same as past years). The 30 minutes fimiliarisation is just that - they will be taken through examples of each type of question for 30 mins and then asked to do the real test. When my son sat this 2 years ago he found it very helpful (even though he'd done all the practising) as a way to relax. I think they did the maths first if that helps.

I don't think they do any familiarisation for the maths.
