My DD has just come home with her Autumn term Y7 CAT scores.
They look pretty good to me but the truth is I have nothing to compare them to.
They are as follows, and any help in putting them into perspective very welcome:
Verbal Stanine 8
Quantitative Stanine 8
Non-verbal Stanine 8

Pardon my ignorance but what are CAT scores ?
Do children get them at Independent schools or are they like SAT's ?

Zorro - some Private schools do them - they are supposed to predict GCSE grades.

Also, many secondary state schools do them early in yr7, for the same reason and also to evaluate children's academic levels.

Don't think my DS's school do them as they have just completed "internal exams".

Zorro - you have to pay for the tests so many schools don't do them.
Opinion is divided on their usefulness!
