A crumb of comfort post 11 plus
Haven't posted for a while, but do check in every so often to see how you are all doing.
Had a bittersweet moment at DS's parent's eve last week (now Y7, failed 11 plus, didn't get in on appeal, couldn't prove clever enough), so many lovely comments, then got to head of maths. 'You do know how exceptional his CAT tests were in September?' I knew good - on G & T for most subjects. 'He scored 141 in quantative reasoning, the highest in the year, we expect great things.' (school not in 11plus area, most children do not take it, is true comprehensive, intake about 200)
And I couldn't prove he was bright....
So just wanted to say to all those going through it: you are all doing your best, but sometimes the system doesn't work. I don't think it's anyone's fault, and I share your frustration if you are going through it this year. But your children will come through it and, hopefully, shine wherever they end up. So good luck when the allocations come through, hope you get what you want.
