I heard today that the head at KEGs has said that the likely cut off this year is 325. Has anyone else heard this? This will obviously have a knock on effect with SHSB and WHSB for their out of catchment boys and score needed.

I'm interested as I have a few boys that I've tutored this year who are borderline for the boys schools.

One would assume that if that score is correct, that will be the in catchment cut off

Yes that is the possible in catchment cut off, hence why it would affect the SHSB and WHSB out of catchment boys as more will be getting into KEGs so lower scores will be needed for SHSB and WHSB.

Or it could (I only say could) reflect a shift in popularity from KEGS to SHSB / WHSB / CRGS on the part of IC boys? It does seem a lot lower than the usual level, if you consider how many boys are likely to be on very close scores between 325 and the more usual 335-ish.

It could indeed....we chose SHSB over KEGs....we'd always wanted KEGs until we visited the schools, didn't really like KEGs at all, we all loved Southend though despite the journey.

Or could it reflect the hard English paper which has resulted in a lower mean and standard deviation?

QUEGS will always likely to more popular due to its results.

I hope the 325 is indeed correct

Isn't QUEGS in Lincolnshire? Or somewhere in Cumbria?
