As every school has limited scholarships
I believe when it is offered and not accepted by child then it does not go to another child
we have multiple offers, with 1 scholarship
The school we want, did not offer scholarship
Can we ask this to school?, if any child with scholarship does not accept your offer
will you offer that to us

Thanks

you can certainly ask if there is a waiting list for scholarships - I think some schools do do this.

Parents can ask, and explain that they are tempted to take the scholarship offer. It will of course depend in part on how competitive the entrance is for each school, but there is no harm in having a discussion with the admissions.

I know a mum a year below us who managed just that, her son got a scholarship offer from her second choice school, ranked same in the league table as her first choice one, and managed to get the other school to match the fees.

Schorships offered and not accepted are not always lost funds.

At MTS, new academic scholarships are awarded in Y8.

At St Helen's, new academic scholarships (worth 50% of fees) are awarded in Y10.

I suspect this happens in other schools too, enabling schools to retain their best students for 6th form.

Although mTs academic scholarship is internal so no money off fees. But regardless it's a great motivator for kids to do well.
