Making sense of Bucks results
Hi
Can someone please help to explain the Bucks standardised results. Trying to put it into context. For example, if you're given a result broken down as:
Verbal - 73.70
Maths - 44.90
Non Verbal - 29.5
How did they do in each part, considering the weighting? Was there an area that was particularly strong?
TIA.

The Bucks CC website says:
https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/edu ... sfer-test/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Your child's scores from the two Secondary Transfer Test papers will be added together and expressed as a Standardised Secondary Transfer Test Score (STTS). The STTS will be the sum of the following:
* 50% of the standardised score for the verbal sections
* 30% of the standardised score for the numerical sections
* 20% of the standardised score for the non-verbal sections
So verbal ss = 73.7 x 2 = 147.4
numerical ss= 44.9 * 10/3 = 149.7
non-verbal ss = 29.5 x 5 = 147.5
So they are all similar - the important thing is the total has to be over 121 - the individual sections do not need to be.

Thank you - that helps me understand it. I didn't know that the individual scores do not have to be over 121, implying that you could do really well on one area and poorly on another and still reach a qualifying score.
