Discovered at one minute to midnight, or thereabouts.
I have just spent weeks trying to do the same thing for DS, and then I discover that someone did it absolutely superbly nearly 20 years ago.

DH and I lived out of 'Grub on a Grant' at uni - don't know if that's still published?

Yep, DS got it for his birthday! I've also done my own version, but this one is very good.Sally-Anne wrote:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nosh-Students- ... r+students

It is beyond good! I loved the whole format, especially the page entitled "How long before this kills me", or similar.scary mum wrote:Yep, DS got it for his birthday! I've also done my own version, but this one is very good.
I handed it to DS yesterday and he was transformed into a capable Uni student within minutes. So much for my feeble efforts.
And I can't remember when he last read a book so enthusiastically!

And I actually still use this, acquired from the nice Stork people for the princely sum of 20p, back in the early 1970s

Ditto. I gave him post-its to bookmark the next 5 meals and he went on to bookmark loads of pages beyond that, and wrote a menu and shopping list.scary mum wrote:Yes, DS covered his with post it notes. Not sure how many he has made yet...

Just said a fond farewell to my DD hoping that she'll be ok. The other flatmates seem really nice and friendly, came to the door when unpacking (they got there earlier) to say hello. Wow can't believe that she's now away from home, will definitely miss her - however am so excited for her too. Sitting here now, without her usual popping in with a hot drink and a chat is going to be hard, she's growing up and moving on with her life; the saying 'time and tide wait for no man' seems so poignant today. Wishing everyone elses DC have a safe journey to their uni and let's hope our DCs have the most wonderful time x x xSally-Anne wrote:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nosh-Students- ... r+students

Now that cookbook looks a gem, definitely going to order and send as a gift. I'm sure she'll love getting it
