No - Ribston propose to increase PAN year-on-year until 2024. They cannot cope at the moment so new buildings will probably be on the way.

Sorry this is what you said... which is wrong - PAN will increase once in 2020, the whole school size will increase until 2024..

If you would like to read my original post which started this topic, it clearly states PAN increase (if approved) will take place in 2020.

Jearund and NancyB both queried whether going over PAN in 2018 would be an option or reasons for a second appeal. I stated No, Ribston will not go over PAN (this year or next). The PAN increase will start in 2020 and it will take them year-on-year to 2024 before 150 will be in all year groups, except 6th form.

I would suggest you read it all well, I certainly have:-)
I am picking you up on your assertion (embedded above and a verbatim copy of your reply) in response to the query... the OP is obviously a copy/paste of the release.
Your assertion implied that PAN would increase year on year from 2020(which no one is disputing) until 2024. - that simply is not the case so no you didn't state they wouldn't go over PAN this year or next, or that it would take them 5 years to fill the school - I actually said that..
As You were...

When Stroud High increased PAN from 120 to 150, they needed no new building works as they could fit one extra class of 30/32 in by juggling around the classrooms in the first year. As far as I remember there were no plans for new buildings, although that may change in the future (my girls have left there now), but mostly it involved teaching classes that needed no special equiptment (History, English) in under-used specialist rooms, such as a science lab. I don't think there was initially an impact on staff numbers.

This may well be the case at Ribston as well - I don't know the school other than playing for some concerts in the main hall.

As for "if approved", the only people who have to approve an Academy increasing its size are the Governors. Yes, it has to go out to consultation (with Stroud High, there were complaints in the local press from the other secondaries in the area that they'd be loosing numbers and under-PAN, but some of those schools also have turned out to be over-subscribed since). But it's the Governors who look at the consultation, note the complaints, then go-ahead anyway. I think the school has to notify the LEA so it gets fed into their capacity planning, and so they can allocate enough pupils.

SHS took an extra 30 in to Y7 (3 years ago) and then have had PAN of 150 for each Y7 intake since. The girls going into Y9 in September are the first intake of 150- then they also let in an extra 2 per tutor group (appeals I believe) and so that's an extra 8 in what will be y10 and y11 and an extra 10 in the KS3 years.

The school are planning on some building work- changes to the school library and some work on science labs I seem to remember. There are also changes afoot due to the changes in the 6th form.

I imagine the biggest issue is probably the canteen at lunch times with how ever many students on site trying to potentially access it at the same time. I haven't heard of any other issues via my daughter-who wouldn't hesitate to moan if there were space issues.
