we are doing papers and now identified some mistakes - coordinates, calculations. my DS says, I know the topic, but still does simple mistakes. Would it be better to do some writing, drawing coordinates from scratch rather than answering questions? I mean some active way of learning (drawing coordinates) etc to sink information in? I just feel answering questions is not always makes information to sink in? What is the best when consolidating information / to make sure it sinks in? thank you

Try lots of different ways, draw co-ordinates. There are lots of free co-ordinate pictures online. You find co-ordinates and plot them to reveal a picture. Google search brings up loads, of varying complexity.

There is a really good online game. BillyBug. Billy Bug 2 uses 4 quadrants. I use this a lot in lessons and the children love it.

The most common problem with co-ordinates is not getting them in the right order, especially when using -ve numbers. Games and plotting to make a picture help with this.

Make it fun and use lots of different aporoaches. BBBc schools and Bitesize do some good revision stuff too.
