Beaconsfield High
Hi I just wondered what are chances of getting into Bec High, after passing 11+ but not being in catchment??
thanks
thanks
Re: Beaconsfield High
Historically, practically zero I'm afraid. Sally-Anne posted the allocation profiles here : http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/school ... n-profiles
According to that only catchment (and siblings) were offered. When we attended the meetings for DD a few years ago they emphasised that out of catchment didn't stand much of a chance, as even in catchment weren't all offered. Things may be different this year but I doubt it.

Re: Beaconsfield High
thank you!! I guess it depends on intake each year! Wish we could move but not poss so guess will just hope for the best.
Re: Beaconsfield High
Have you listed other Bucks Grammars? Some offered to all
Re: Beaconsfield High
Yes, put down Wycombe high and Burnham
Re: Beaconsfield High
We are in the same position - literally 100m out of catchment - really unfair as we are at the bottom of the Bucks area and I think it should go down to the county border! We are only about 6miles from BHS - and yet out of catchment - whereas it goes miles and miles in the other directions!
One year it was all offered I think - but it really depends on the cohort this year. I have a theory it may be a low girls year - as DD is in a class with only 8 or 9 girls and 20+ boys - but who knows!!
Good luck to both of us!!

Re: Beaconsfield High
This might help you to get a better picture. These are the numbers of first preferences for BHS for the last 4 years, and the final allocation distances as at the start of the autumn term. Please bear in mind that these figures do not include successful appeals who also named the school as a first preference.
There may be hope, but it could be a nail-biting wait and obviously so much depends on where the first preferences live compared to previous years.
Code: Select all
Prefs Final allocation
2008 158 6.011 miles
2009 99 All offered
2010 145 11.210 miles
2011 123 T.b.a.
Re: Beaconsfield High
Wycombe High does seem far more popular than BHS amongst our year 6 this year than previous years. Don't be too disheartended if you don't get BHS. We were very split between WHS and BHS a few years ago and sometimes wish we'd gone for WHS instead. Burnham is also supposed to be excellent. Spoilt for choice really.
Re: Beaconsfield High
Sally-Anne, so does 123 first preferences for this year also include those of us who are out of catchment - or only the in catchment kids? Where do we find these numbers for the other schools - or could you post them too?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

I knew that was coming!Booklady wrote:or could you post them too?
People will have to cross reference against the allocation profiles for themselves because I am not going to type them all out again here. Posting in Code is the devil's own invention.
However, these are the first preferences post-qualification. They are the numbers for all those (regardless of catchment) who placed the school in first place on the CAF. They do not include successful appeals or late testers, and nor do they include children who placed another school higher on their CAF but subsequently did not qualify for that school, e.g. an OoC grammar.
This is "The Rough Guide to Preferences" and no more than that.
