RG4, thanks for doing that, no idea if it's right or not but isn't it odd seeing it written out like that as it makes you realise that there is literally just a mark or two in it.

Based on 651 children sat the exam, following is my estimate:
Score Rank (approx.)
109 179
110 164
111 151
112 138
113 126
114 114
115 103
116 93
117 84
118 75
119 67
120 59
130 15
135 6
140 2

The above is based on bell curve with a mean of 100 and standard deviation of 15 which is used by NFER and other grammar schools.

I am keeping my fingers crossed my son.

Anyone knows whether Reading Boys will be posting their result by 1st class or 2nd class!

Those rankings are very close to the ones provided by NFer on their standardised score to percentile ranking chart but they are not exactly the same. I wonder why given that theirs also uses a standard deviation of 15? Any statisticians know the answer to the discrepancy?

I do know from past experience of my own daughter's standardised scores and her ranking, that they tallied with the NFer chart.

harrow123 - Congratulations to your DD!
Historically, OOC candidates definitely got in as there was no catchment! This year is the first year they have introduced one. I'm afraid I don't know enough about it to help you further, but I'm sure someone else will be along to give you better advice shortly.

PS - where is everyone?? V quiet forum for results day - is the postie just really late?

Well done to your DD Harrow 123, that is a great result It doesn't seem very likely that she will get a place though as they fill up with catchment children down to the 109 score before taking OOC children. If your DD has sat other exams though, I'm sure her score bodes well for those.

I noticed on the website that it mentions an adjustment of ranking to take into account who lives in the designated area. I wonder whether this adjusted ranking will be what is sent out on March 1st or whether the original ranking will be shown.
