I agree with SEP18. SATs scores are notoriously unreliable (I had young friends whose head had wandered around as they sat their papers, coughing at appropriate points - their school had *excellent* results). And local comprehensives I spoke to definitely used CAT tests to assess their incoming pupils.

Seems a not uncommon practice.
My ds1 once attended a school where the teacher would walk around the room during SATs tests (they held them in most Ks2 years as they were doing 'single level' tests) - and put her finger on any question in the test which had been answered incorrectly.
My children's school may not get results as high as this one, but at least I know that there is no cheating involved in their case. Nevertheless, scores of parents choose the former school each year on the basis of their high SATs scores.
