Would people consider it if it was called the old polytechnic school.

My thoughts exactly. A doctor friend of mine has changed his child's school three times due to his behaviour issues( linked to his adhd).

I take all your points but for us it is our closest school and I have to pick between it and HGS which is not an easy journey from where we live and where I have heard negatives about behaviour. I work for the University so I'm under no illusions! I also work with lots of clinicians!
