the next two numbers are

which makes more sense.

I wonder if you have a slightly different version of the book but not the matching answer sheet. My book was published in 2007.
That sounds more like the question that fits the answer !

Bit like Lucy and Linus (but I have seen politicians trying this too):

LUCY:
The first question is: on a scale of zero to one hundred, with a standard of fifty as average, seventy-five as above average and ninety as exceptional, where would you rate me with regards to crabbiness?

LINUS:
(He laughs.) You're my big sister.

LUCY:
That's not the question.

LINUS:
No, but that's the answer.

We have the book here bond 10-11 fourth papers and the answer sheet on paper 12 says

q:36 15 1/2
q37 23 1/2

My DS just pointed this out to me after racking his brain for last five minutes! So i think you might have the wrong answers sheet!

That makes much more sense, thank you!

It's odd, because the rest of the answers for that paper (and the previous 11 papers) are correct!!?

I have the same edition as you manana. All the other answers have been ok so far so think this is just an error.

That's reassuring! Thank you for your reply, I was starting to think I was going mad!

8.5-8 equal .5x2 equal 1 then add to 8.5 equal 9.5
9.5-8.5 equal 1x2 equal 2 then add to 9.5 equal 11.5
11.5-9.5 equal 2x2 equal 4 then add to 11.5 equal 15.5
15.5-11.5 equal 4x2 equal 8 then add to 15.5 equal 23.5
Find the difference between any number and it's previous, multiply the difference by 2 and add it to that number. :D

Thank you; I knew how to work it out, just wondered how the answers were different on my answer sheet! If you read the whole thread it will make sense.
