The score doesn't make a difference for the girls grammar - they take in catchment sisters who passed first then other in catchment girls who passed based on distance. The catchment area is an 8 mile radius. They took girls from at least 5 miles away last year - someone else may know the maximum distance.

AGGS don't care about the score. As long as the girl passes the exam, be it with 334 or with 401, they are deemed qualified for the school.

In terms of how places are allocated, first of all all qualified girls who are in care are admitted, followed by girls with sisters at the school and who are also within the 8 mile catchment area. Assuming there are places left after this the next category of girls admitted are those who are within the 8 mile catchment area but don't have sisters at the school. To the extent there are insufficient places to accommodate all these girls distance comes in to play, so that a girls living 2.1 miles from the school would get in before a girl living 2.2 miles from the school etc.

If there are still places left after this then sisters of existing pupils who live outside the 8 mile limit are the next category. Again, if there are insufficient places to take all such girls, a girl living 8.1 miles away from AGGS would trump a girl living 8.2 miles away.

If there are still places left after all these categories have been satisfied, then they are allotted according to distance, ie a girl living 8.1 miles away would trump a girl living 8.2 miles away.

I hope that clarifies the position for you.
