Make sure he wears a coat that hides his blazer/tie in the winter. In the summer they take their blazers and ties off anyway, so not a problem then.
With regards to the coach business that is a major cop-out by the school. My DS's school take the behaviour on coaches to be as if they were still at school and therefore school rules still apply. My DS got into an 'altercation' !! with another boy prior to the coach leaving school. He and the other boy were taken off the coach by the master supervising and sent home in a cab (seperately!) at our expense.
Off course the coach is noisy (sometimes I can't hear him speak if I ring him when he is on the coach) but behaviour is not out of control.
I definitely would not let this go if it had been my child and neither should the school.
