Can you appeal to all schools on Scaf form

Post by ssbjham »

My son took the Kent test which he achieved combinded score of 360 but unfortunately wasn't allowed a pass because his NV was 105 .Vr was 137 and Maths 114. Although surprised he only achieved 114 on the Maths but were shocked as were all his teachers that he only achieved 105 on Nv.Its seems that something went very wrong on the NV.Am intending to go and look at his papers but we will definately be appealing.HT took it to appeal as well.
My reason for posting was to ask if you name a school on the Scaf form do you have the right to appeal to all of the schools whether or not you have put them first. We are on the border of kent /surrey and therefore if we are unsuccessful in appeal we would like him to the surrey comp, but although my ds was unsuccessful we would like to put two gs down just incase we are successful in the appeal.(Long shot I know but we have nothing to lose). With this all in mind does anybody know what would be the best order for the scaf score. The two gs are 1 superselective and the other not 1surrey secondary school and one Kent Comp.

Hi, I have posted a similar question elsewhere on the forum.

I am still confused as KCC are saying (after speaking to them today) that you can appeal any school on your SCAF form even if you are offered your first pref.

The few people I have spoken to about it and the person who gave me some advice on the forum, have said that it makes sense that you cannot appeal a school that you have not been refused. SO if you are offered pref number 1 you will not be refused any of the others and therefore will not be able to appeal them.

I have been advised to put the Kent school (which he did not pass) 1st to get the refusal and appeal and then put the Bexley school 2nd (which he did pass - although may live a little too far away!). That way we can appeal the kent and possibly still be offered the bexley.

Hopefully this helps and doesn't add to the confusion.
