Not heard of this, sounds shocking.
Re: Keeping DC's safe on on-line and on Facebook
I've seen it and quite frankly can't understand why anyone would do it...
The only people I have seen issuing a Formspring invitation are the more outgoing, attention-seeking and sometimes slightly eccentric types. It's effectively asking to be bullied so anyone with less than thick skin is inviting trouble by using it imo.

Absolutely. DC does not have it but some of DC's friends do. Not only do these friends get horrid comments but the comments are also directed at other friends who do not have it. So, it needs just one person in the group to be on it for the whole group to be the target of vile comments.Marylou wrote:It's effectively asking to be bullied so anyone with less than thick skin is inviting trouble by using it imo.

Formspring is pernicious and one to watch - it's a click away from your DC's FB page so you really need to be aware. And it seems to be the more arhem 'advanced' boys and girls who are using it....but where they lead milder sheep will no doubt follow.Snowdrops wrote:One word - 'Formspring' - heard of it yet???

I'd never heard of Formspring either.
Asked my 12-year-old about it, 'Oh yeah, I used to have it, but I don't any more.' Slightly concerned that there might have been unpleasantness involved I asked what sort of things people had said to her on it. The examples she gave were 'you've got nice hair' and you're a good singer'.
What had she said to other people? 'Nice hair' and 'what shampoo do you use' (seems to be a clear theme here!).
It seems from other posts she's been lucky and I'm relieved she no longer uses it.
