Re: Can a teaching assistant do this?
My younger dc had a higher level teaching assistant for a whole term, or half term, due to a teaching leaving, and the new one starting later due to other commitments. She was actually a good 'teacher' and I felt sorry when the new regular teacher started. ( partly this was because the reception class had three 'teachers' in one year).
Funnily enough, twenty years ago when I did the PGCE course ( but gave it up), we were advised that classroom assistants are assistants, not teachers. They are there to help. How the world has changed.
In the past, I went in as parent helper. I quite enjoyed this role as an old fashioned classroom assistant. Eg. Listening to reading, helping kids get into pe kits. Etc. I had no desire to teach.
