Re: hardest Chinese word to write?
Found a proper word coming in at 32 strokes:
籲 to appeal
56 doesn't seem so bad, that character was fairly symmetrical. But it's not a real word with meaning, how cruel
Ah, also found a 48 stroke word:
龘 of walking dragons (!)
But that's really one character repeated 3 times together, so actually fairly easy.

Re: hardest Chinese word to write?
It seems no one ever really learns the full "Chinese" alphabet as there always characters an individual will not have learnt and will never know.
