A level course dropped by school - options?

A lot of universities ignore them completely - a very few make an offer that includes something like "an A in EPQ" - there actual value is in a) a student learning to actually research and run a project themselves and b) something to talk about at interview. To be clear DS1 didn't do one and it made not one jot of difference to his Medical application at all.

Some schools still seem to be telling students they are equal to one A level - they aren't - and are only reall acceptable in addition to 3 A levels.

The university in which she is interested have already advised that they don't really look at EPQ unless it essentially comes down to a tie break type situation between two otherwise equally matched candidates. They insist on 3 full A levels.

It would be a way of allowing some time on the subject if she can't get the A level at all but I think we would likely change schools before going down that route.

Update - I'm not one to give up easily and after a somewhat tense series of meetings and calls the school have agreed to run the A level.

For DD they will essentially run it backwards so she will study with current year 12 when she is in year 12 and they are in year 13 and then study with any Year 12s starting the course in 2020 when she is in yr 13.

The have guaranteed to run the course for the full 2 years and to offer extra support/teacher time to balance out the odd arrangement and to finish in time for revision in yr 13. (We also have an excellent tutor on stand by now to step in as and when necessary.)

Just hope this might give hope to others in a similar situation. I'm conscious that this restructuring won't work for many courses where the 2nd year builds on the first but in this subject that isn't a major issue.
