Is 'Mill Hill Country' High School a grammar school

Post by sachi78 »

Hi All,
Does anyone know whether Mill Hill County High School is really a grammar school or comprehensive school. As per wikipedia, it is a comprehensive school however as per https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/schoo ... hools-list , it is showing under grammar school list.

Thanks in advance.

I believe it selects some of its pupils using aptitude tests. If you have a look at the school website under admissions it gives details.
(It's County not Country!)

Thanks @scarymum for response on this. In rush, it seems I misspell the name that I corrected now. I agree that they enrol pupils through both academic and music aptitude test but I am unable to find detail whether it is grammar or comprehensive school. On many post, people are treating it as Grammar school so not sure.

Type Partially selective academy

It is a very well-regarded school.

As mentioned above it is a partially selective school however since it only has 24 seats for technological aptitude (VR/NVR test) and 24 on musical aptitude, I would consider it more as a comprehensive school then grammar. It does however have very good results in league tables (compared to other Barnet comprehensives) and an ofsted rating of 'good'.

The admission breakdown last year was

Total cohort = 243

Education / healthcare plan = 10
Looked after children = 1
Geographical distance = 107
Sibling = 64
Children of staff = 1
Technological aptitude = 24
Musical aptitude = 24
Dance aptitude = 12

The geographical catchment of last year was 0.947 miles
