Head teacher appeal

Post by ian »

Hi

My daughter came home from school on Friday and said that her English and Form books had been taken for the Head Teacher Appeal. I was a bit surprised that she'd been told this (by a teacher) as it implied that she had done well but not quite well enough. Another 5 pupils books were also taken.

Does this sound right. Thanks.

In our area the books going in means that the child hasn't passed on the "first round" so to speak, but may, after the Head Teacher's appeal, get one of the 6% of places reserved for children in this position. It usually means that the child was expected to do better on the day than they actually did, and the head teacher's appeal, supported by the class work will make their case. What also happens in our school is that lots of books vanish, not just those of the "appeal" candidates, so that no one knows who has got through on the first go and who has got through on appeal.

Good luck!

Many thanks for that. I was just surprised that the teacher announced why the books were going in. I wasn't thinking about until now! Wait and see time I suppose.
