What makes a Leader
Hello,
I went to my sons recent school evening, he goes to one of the KEGS, and there was a talk on leaders and leaderships. On the way home, he asked me about what makes a leader and what qualities do they have, and why wasn't I one. I thought it was a very interesting question, after all, his schools hopes to produce leaders one day. I said, I wasn't that sure, there are many facets to leadership qualities, and to some extent, we all have them, its how we deploy them in reality.
So....What makes a good leader and do we have children with this potential?
Would be nice to know, perhaps, I could do with some coaching......

My Y7 DS had to write an essay on leadership recently. These are the things he wrote about - I was quite impressed.
A good leader :
- motivates the people around them with positive thoughts
- is realistic but never negative
- encourages those who are struggling and brings them along
- uses their strength to help others
- never asks anyone to do something they wouldn't themselves
- gives clear instructions
- leads by example
- realises that it's the whole team that matters
* his main reference is the rugby field LOL
