Appeal hearings for TOGS

Post by franticmum »

I've heard that some hearings still go on into September and October. Is this happening to anyone or have they all been heard now? Who had the latest appeal hearing and when was it?

I imagine that any appeals at this stage are because of either a late application for the school (parents just moved to the area), or a late appeal, as there is no time limit on when you launch your appeal (well, eyebrows might rise if you left it until year 10).

Some people think that there is an advantage in having a late appeal (ie after the start of the school term) as there may have been a few children not turning up on the first day of term (maybe because the parents forgot to tell the school that they'd made other arrangements).

In my experience, ad-hoc (out of normal sequence) appeals carry on throughout the year - as in I heard some for primaries yesterday and have some for secondary coming up later this month, then more in October.
