maths challenge questions too much of a challenge obviously
can anyone with maths brain help....
1. 12 hour watch is running fast ; it only shows the correct time on the hour, every hour and only on the hour. when it is half past one what time does the watch show?
1.30, 6.30,7.30,12.30 or could be either 1.30 or 7.30
2 A large open space is paved with octagonal and square paving stones. if 2000 square paving stones are used, roughly how many octagonal stones are needed.
1200, 2000, 3000, 3500, 4000
3. there are four teams in a netbll league, acorns, belles, chipmunks, and daisies. Each team receives 3 points for winning a match, 1 point for drawing a match and no points for losing a match. After each team has played every other team twice, the points scored are:
chipmucks 11, belles 10, daisies 6, acorns 6
how many games so far have resuted in a draw?
3, 4, 5, 6, or can't be sure
many thanks for sharing your expertise and taking the time to help

Number 1 must be 7.30. For the clock to be right every hour on the hour the hands must travel 13 hrs every hour. Half of 13 is 6.5. 1 + 6.5 = 7.5. Cannot be 1.30 as this would be the correct time.

makes sense moved .... must be REALLY fast
3) = 3 matches drawn, there are a maximum of 36 points available - 12 matches * 3 points for a win - for every drawn match there are 2 points available. the teams have 33 points between them which would make 9 matches won = 27 pints (or pints even ) and 6 (3 to each side) for the draws = 33
