Non qualification Appeal
My daughter just missed the waiting list for Alcester Grammer, I have had some advise from the appeals office and I have been told to appeal due to a number of factors
1. She was disturbed by 2 other children in the test (where 1 was eventually moved!)
2. She went to the loo (due to a urine infection) Can get eveidence of this from our doctor
3. She is at all 5's in her CAT score (predicted to be 5a and even a 6 by the end of term) which her school said they will give a reference of the score and her ability.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similier case and how there appeal went, we are going to get representation on this. We moved to the midlands some 8 years ago due to work commitments and the perticular area because of the school in question also she has a real interest in performing arts and dance which she has evidence of certificates with the Royal Ballet. Alcester Grammer has a specialism in this area along with Science.
I guess I am not certain if we should appeal am I wasting my time? Please all advice is welcome.
Also advice on how kids do at this level in a comprehensive school?

I have read the q&a and they are really helpful I think by reading them again I feel more confident with the appeal!

It depends on the length of the interruption, and exactly what has been recorded by the invigilator.1. She was disturbed by 2 other children in the test (where 1 was eventually moved!)
If this was unexpected, fine. If it was foreseeable, you're on weak ground. Do get the evidence.2. She went to the loo (due to a urine infection) Can get eveidence of this from our doctor
You will have seen from the Q&As that the range of evidence is important. No one thing is equivalent to the 11+, so the more academic evidence you have, the better!3. Thankyou for your advice I certainly will get all the evidence that is required the good thing is she hadn't been diagnosed with a infection but the doctors do know she is acceptable to them and they can come so quickly also she has been told to go straight to the toilet when the need arises as this fights the infection. I just hope i don't sound to desperate.

I have now received 3 letters with evidence for our appeal, Firstly from the Head Teacher stating her ability and predicted score which includes 2 6's and the rest 5a's, a doctors letter stating that lucy was sent to him the monday after the exam suffering from Cytitis also explaining how quickly this occurs and the discomfort she would would of felt and the obvious reason for the toilet break also a letter from her ballet teacher (Royal Ballet) explaining the ability and the fact she has been invited to be a student of the royal ballet.
I just wonder if you could let me know if this sort of evidence would hold up in the appeal and how strong this may be?

The evidence looks good to me.
I would draw attention again to the importance of a range of academic evidence.
