Equal preference sysyem
Hi,thinking ahead to filling out the CAF form....does this equal prefernce system really work in practise? If one was to put a school as second choice, would you really have the same chances of getting a space as someone who put the same school as their first choice?? I really wonder about this...

Hi positivemum
the answer is yes IF you aren't eligible for your first choice and you are as eligible distance wise or whatever as the people who have put your second choice school first.

Yes. Schools are only given the list of pupils who applied and NOT what number preference it is. The school then puts all the pupils in rank order according to their admissions criteria and sends it back to the borough. If more than one school can offer your child a place you will be offered the one you listed as highest on your CAF.

Thanks,Hermanmunster and Starmum for your replies..definitely made it clearer, was just rather concerned that one could get penalized for one's order of preference..just need those results now so we can actually know what options we actually have!!!!!
