Thought some of you might wish to be aware of this:
QCDA have confirmed that the 2012 Key Stage 2 national curriculum tests will be held in the week beginning Monday 14th May 2012.
Externally marked Level 6 tests in English and mathematics will be available to schools in 2012 to administer to eligible pupils on an optional basis. The dates for these tests will be Monday 21st May and Tuesday 22nd May 2012.

Thanks Guest 55.
I heard yesterday that SATS no longer include Science. Is this true?

Yes I believe sats no longer include science. Does anyone know anything about the writing test, because this is meant to be changing too?
Re: 2012 KS2 tests and level 6 tests
Yes - no Science tests except for a few schools where the children sit Science test as a national sample.
I think there may not be time to change the writing for next year as the tests have to be trialled etc.

There will not be an externally marked writing test in 2012.
Writing will be based purely on teacher assessment, though there will continue to be externally marked reading tests.
In the future, the writing test will be based around testing punctuation, grammar and spelling.
You can find the full report on this if you google.
I know as I am a marker and have been informed of the changes (and the fact that less papers may mean my services are no longer required )

Hi, this is very useful to know.Guest55 wrote: Externally marked Level 6 tests in English and mathematics will be available to schools in 2012 to administer to eligible pupils on an optional basis. The dates for these tests will be Monday 21st May and Tuesday 22nd May 2012.
I had a look at the QCDA site (http://www.qcda.gov.uk/assessment/7602.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and they still not have any information on it, namely the date ...
Do you know where we can find out more?

starmum and others
I heard today that there will be a writing paper - some schools will have it marked externally but others can mark it in school - the level is to support teacher assessment.
We will know more when the QCDA website open for schools to enter pupils for the tests.

Re: 2012 KS2 tests and level 6 tests
Is the level 6 maths paper going to be a new one or an old thing recycled from years ago? And is it the same paper that could be administered at secondary level or is it specifically a primary paper for KS2 sats in year 6?
Re: 2012 KS2 tests and level 6 tests
This year's (marked by schools) was a new paper so I think it will be another new paper. It is aimed at KS2 so won't test all of level 6.
Re: 2012 KS2 tests and level 6 tests
I had heard that the yr6 English SATs are different this year. Does anyone know how the English SATs score will be worked out now? I understand previously the reading SATs score was combined with the writing SATs score to give an overall English score. Will this still be the case for this academic year where the writing SATs is done by continual teacher assessment? Or will a separate writing and reading score be given?
