Comparison of Independent and State school GCSE A*/A Results
Hello
I have obtained data from The Telegraph for state and independent schools to produce a visualisation combining the school data and ranking them by % of pupils achieving A*/A. This measure was chosen because it was available for both state and independent schools, so a fair comparison was possible.
As stated in the original Telegraph articles (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/le ... table.html and http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/le ... sults.html), the data exists for 139 selective state schools, 245 comprehensive schools and 405 independent schools.
Data for these tables have been supplied directly to The Telegraph by the schools. Some results were excluded from the list because of incomplete data
You can search by School Name and filter by school type or gender.
http://public.tableausoftware.com/views ... _count=yes" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I hope you find this useful.
There is also a visualisation for A-Levels for Independent and State schools, which I have placed here
http://public.tableausoftware.com/views ... _count=yes
State schools are included on a separate tab.
Thanks

probably worth noting that for A levels the Indies show percentage A*/A whereas the State tab shows percentage A*/A/B so you shouldn't compare the 2 too closely.
still interesting to see the summary though - thanks

For the A-Level results, this is true as you pointed out, which is why I kept them on separate tabs. For the GCSE Results, the measure is the same, A*/A.
The Telegraph data actually also included A*-C results for State schools and A* results for Indie schools, but since these measures were different, I could not keep them on the same chart. You can look at this directly on their website.
Thanks

Very useful. Appreciate it.
Some famous schools are missing like King Edwards High School for Girls in Birmingham.

No all schools have participated in this particular league table.
