How many boys get into Wilson's from outside Sutton Area?

Hi There
Just wanted find out if anyone knows the number of boys that get into Wilson's from outside of Sutton Local Area in the past years? Is this information available somewhere?

I live outside (TW postcode) the area and was wondering if I should name Wilson's as one of my choices? Confident that my son has done well in the stage 2 exam.

How many tests did your son do where you did not check the admissions criteria first?

The answer to your question is clearly set out on the Wilsons website under its admissions criteria. To save you the bother of looking it up, I have copied it here:

Where the number of eligible candidates for admission exceeds the number of places available, places are offered to boys in the order set out below:

Looked After Children or Previously Looked After Children** by rank order of standardised score in the entrance tests;
10 places for boys eligible to receive Free School Meals*** by rank order of standardised score in the entrance tests;
Remaining places including any unallocated places under criterion 2 will be allocated to boys according to their position in the rank order of standardised score in the entrance tests.

Where candidates have the same rank order and where the admission of all would exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order:

firstly to candidates whose permanent home address**** is within the London Borough of Sutton in the order of the distance of their home address (with those living closest being given priority) measured in a straight line from the main front door of Wilson’s School; secondly to those candidates who live elsewhere in the order of the distance of their home address (with those living closest being given priority) measured in a straight line from the main front door of Wilson's School. In the event that candidates have the same rank order and cannot be separated by distance the applications will be determined by a random ballot supervised by an independent person.

Wilson's PAN is 180 - therefore almost all the places will be determined by score, not by address.

If it sounds like I'm being snippy, it's because I notice you've posted a similar question about Reading (Reading! You're not planning on your DS travelling there from TW are you?) without seemingly understanding your chances of getting a place at that school. Your son has done all the hard work in sitting these tests, yet you don't seem to have as much as glanced at the admissions criteria.

OK - it's good that your DS won't have a long commute.

You realise that you won't know whether your DS has got a place at Wilsons until 1 March at the earliest? I hope that will give you enough time to relocate.

Essentially it's only the last place or two that are decided on distance.
Apart for pupil premium and previously looked after children/ looked after children all that matters is your son's ranking in he cohort.
You should put the schools on your CAF in order of preference but if you are planning to move you ought to be sure you would be happy o move to he area before you do your CAF.

this is confusing . your quote above, do u mean if a child living in OOC scored higher than a child in Sutton, then whats the order of selection

Mittleme there is no catchment. No one is IC or OOC. Its not like the girls grammars.
Only score counts unless it's a tie break for the last place in which case it comes down to distance and a boy living in the London Borough of Sutton gets priority.

I seemed to read on the forum and also perhaps on Wilson school's website indicating that the scoring will be classified into several bands, from high to low score. So my understanding is that within a specific band, all boys scoring within that band will have equal chance of getting a place. And therefore it is probably the lowest band, where there can be a tie break and therefore the distance will play a role here. Effectively one should score the top bands if they live far from Sutton in order to secure a place. We live in Woking so cant really think of anyone living further compared to us....
