Why should primary schools know the results?
Why should kids primary schools be emailed the 11+ results, when we as a family have put them in for it, not the school. I think it is a very personal thing
Am I missing the point?

Re: Why should primary schools know the results?
The 11+ is an assessment so knowing the result is informative to the teacher. I suspect most teachers will glean more insight from the pupil's that don't reach the standard. Do they "choke" in tests and is this something they need to address prior to SATS? Is there too much pressure (and unrealistic expectation) from Parents? Will they need more pastoral care for a while?
It all depends on how you view teaching. Is it to fill their heads with facts and skills or something more?

Yes still think it's personal the the kid and family, might not pass anc don't need everyone to know by how much 'oh they were only 1 point off' and like wise could pass and decide to not take up the grammar place for whatever reason, families choice and shouldn't need to explain themselves to anyone... having a grumble, fed up that the results are in the post and we won't know till mid week next week, should be using big emails now, not second class snail ma!!RedPanda wrote:The 11+ is an assessment so knowing the result is informative to the teacher. This is Yorkshire, they won't be hurried by it all! Suppose they could use e-mail but not everyone is connected.
In area state schools may get told the results but then there is an advantage to being in area - DD's school didn't but it was a private OOA school.

Once it's all over, I am going to put some recommendations into North Yorkshire CChermanmunster wrote:This is Yorkshire, they won't be hurried by it all! Suppose they could use e-mail but not everyone is connected.

I'm actually quite glad that the school know the results. From my point of view it meant that they were ready to support my daughter, who just missed out on one test, when all her similar level friends passed.
They were also able to advise me about appealing both initially which invariably does not work, and then later direct to our preferred school. They have all the documentary in class and school sat test evidence to support any appeals, as well as the scores for the other test for neighbouring borough.
Just had a parents evening, and I could tell that the teacher wasn't about to put my daughter down a table because of the result, because they are using their own assesments to group the kids, and they know that the score on that day is not really reflective of my child's abilities.

The school can start getting evidence together in the case that a child has not peformed as well as expected and start to build a case to help an appeal. Maybe you fell that they should not?
