Bucks Appeals Advise Needed Please
Hi All,
We've just received our Son's result 115 - we're considering appealing but are unsure how to approach this.
What does Academic Evidence mean - will a letter from the Head teacher suffice?
Should I also mention that he joined the school mid term Year 4 and missed school at the beginning of Year 5 due to glandular fever and tonsillitis?
TIA.

Is your son in a Bucks primary? You need to make an appointment with the Head to find out how strongly they will support.
Is a review or an appeal the best way forward? What academic evidence have you got? Does the Year 5 report give above age expectations comments?

Re: Bucks Appeals Advise Needed Please
Thank you - Its a Bucks School - arranged to meet the Head on Monday.

Ask the Head what the recommendation was. Hopefully you'll get a review pack to look at.
Do make sure your Head understands the nature of a review ie that it's a data driven paper exercise. Do you have strong academic performance ie above age expectation? What KS2 predictions will the Head give?

Thank you - are you referring to:

Additionally, if your child goes to a Buckinghamshire LA primary or Partner school, the SRP will also have information from their current headteacher, decided upon in advance of the test results being known, about whether they believe your child would be suitably placed in a grammar school as well as their attitude to work (learning).[/color]

Yes, if the evidence isn't strong it may be better to delay and wait for an appeal. In an appeal you can present a wider range of evidence and it's later in the year when attainment might have improved.
