Help 2009/2010 when are the exams???
Hi can anyone help me please, I am due to get married in September 2009 and have been advised that the 11 plus may be moved from Jan to sep, my son will be 11 in oct 2009 so will need to take it, we dont mind defering our honeymoon but dont want to if it will still be in January.
I live in Dartford Kent, can anyone give me an answer to when they will take place.
Thanks
Sam

there is a mention in a document (see link) of 25th March 2008
http://www.kent.gov.uk/committees/child ... ements.pdf
This is an extract
Summary: On 6 February 2008 Cabinet determined the Admissions Arrangements to Primary and secondary schools for 2009 entry.
Some Admissions Authorities within Kent objected to the proposed admissions arrangements and as a result we do not have agreement on coordination. In these circumstances it falls to the Secretary of State to impose a scheme and the DCSF are presently conducting a consultation with a view to taking a decision on the scheme by the end of May.
So......looks like it will not confirmed until May

2009 dates
We have a son who'll be doing it in 2009. We're betting September.

Beeping out words
A word I used in the last post was beeped out.
Just to be clear I was not using a rude word.
The word I used is the thing you do in a casino or when you put money on a horse to win a race.

Hi again
I have just come off the phone to KCC, and this was the response:~
No decision has been made yet.
The decision will be made by the end of May.
The Headteachers will be notified in writing.
The decsion will be posted on their website: www.kent.gov.uk.
The decision will be announced on Invicta Radio.
Looks like we have got at least another week then???
Hope this helps.

From the DCSF. They have emailed members of various appropriate organisations, including Kent Admissions.ergo wrote:Hi c'est la vie, where did you get your info from? Have just checked website and no news - have been hearing more stories about it being January?
Kent are obviously delaying the news until it suits them to release it into the public domain. They presumably have to prepare their public statement in persuasive terms because of vigorous opposition to testing before preference.
