Music Test round 2

Just finished Music Test round 2 for SW Herts. DS said that the piano used for performance is quite heavyweight. And when he pressed, some of the keys didn't make sound. He felt bad about his performance.
Would it be helpful to communicate with SW Herts Consortium to explain?

Definitely.

If the equipment that you had no option but to use did not work properly then that is unfair.

Did he make any comment at the time? DG

Thank you very much for your reply DG. It seems my replies last night was lost.
My DS did not mention it to the examiner but I did to the admin staff member.
My DH suggested that it won't be helpful to contact SW Herts if just my DS not used to this type of piano. But he didn't have any problems with the other 2 schools previously...

Did he do his warm up on the pianos in the basement?

They should have been the same type of pianos as the one he played on? DG

We had the same problem, the piano keys were very hard to press and my son found this very frustrating. Also they didn’t let him have a practice on a piano as requested on registration, instead he had to have a go on keyboard.
He’s been playing on many different pianos before and quite frankly found this one very hard to give a great performance.
Not impressed.

Yes, the practice piano was just electronic one. Not the standard one as requested.And the height of the chair cannot be adjusted. The warm up time was quite short compare to the other schools.
I have emailed SW Herts maybe you can try also, Beeyourself? At least we can bring this up to their attention.
