I have never heard of a welcome 'interview'. State schools are not allowed to interview children. Can you provide more information about this? For example has your dc been invited to one and if so in what circumstances and what details have been provided
mad?

State schools can’t do admissions interview. These welcome interview looks more to tell about school and to find out if student has any subject or extra curricular interests.

When do these personalised interactions take place? Does the school not have a proper induction day at a stage in the procedure when the girls attending are most likely to be the cohort actually starting in September?tiffinboys wrote:State schools can’t do admissions interview. It may well be like the "meet the Head" sessions, our school runs - each child and their parents comes in for an individual meeting to say hello - they fill in a form about their interests beforehand and he talks to them - then when they come for the whole year welcome evening he is able to show how although they don't know each other, they may have similar interests, like the same books, sports etc. It is more about making them feel comfortable and welcome, than an "interview" per se.
