Reading Borough 2009 six choices
http://www.reading.gov.uk/Documents/edu ... -11-08.pdfThe form will allow parents/carers to name the six* schools that they want to apply for, ranking them in order of preference. It will also allow parents/carers to give reasons for each preference. Preferences may be expressed for any school within or outside Reading, including grammar schools, voluntary aided schools, foundation schools and Academies.
Six choices subject to consultation. I think a step in the right direction. Still trying to find more details on the consultation. On 1 March 2010, letters will be sent 2nd class post by Reading Borough Council to all parents/carers living in Reading who completed an on-time application, offering a secondary school place for their child in September 2010. Parents/carers who made an online application will be able to view the outcome of their application online from 1 March 2010.

expected for grammar schools. Both could be improved by a clearer
explanation of how the annual ‘cut-off point’ is determined and a broad
indication of the academic standard it represents.
